Campus Ministryhome
Campus Ministry is a ministerial complex of pastoral, catechetical, educational, evangelizing, counseling, and prophetic efforts that seeks to build a living faith community. Components of Cardinal O'Hara High School's campus ministry programs include: prayer and liturgy, service learning, retreats, and leadership development.
Prayer and Liturgy
Monthly liturgies at Cardinal O'Hara have the potential to deepen the faith of the members of the school community and move all more fully into discipleship.
Service Learning
In the spirit of St. Francis, COHS believes in the total development of each student. As members of a school, local, national, and worldwide community, our students develop an awareness of their responsibility to use their gifts and talents for the greater good. Therefore, each student is requried to complete a miminum of 35 hours of service in the community. Of these 35 hours, a minimum of ten (10) hours must be performed through participation at various school-related events. Service Completion (Verification) forms are available in the Guidance Office and Campus Ministry. Forms must be completed by the person(s) supervising service activities and all forms must be submitted to the Director of Campus Ministry by March 1st each year. Students not completing the service requirement prior to that date will become ineligible for all extra-curricular activities until such requirement is complete. Retreats
Opportunities for stepping away from the hectic pace of life in this postmodern era offers staff and students time for solitude with God, conversion, reconciliation, and development of community. Retreat opportunities can offer participants an opportunity to reflect on their personal relationship with God, themselves, and others, as well as the effectiveness of their ministry. Each school year, faculty and students are afforded this opportunity.
Leadership Development
The campus ministry office recognizes the opportunities it has for developing leaders for the Church and the world of tomorrow. By definition, leaders are people who influence others. That influence, like a two-edged sword, can be toward good or evil. The campus ministry office considers it a privilege to share in nurturing and empowering all to use their gifts of the Spirit to live and lead with the mind and heart of Jesus.
